Participants will learn about the challenges in accurately capturing breastfeeding statistics and tips and tricks to promote organization wide data collection. Presenters will describe the team-based approach taken to ensure consistent and reliable data collection for Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) reporting. Using the Newborn Support and Breastfeeding Program as a case example, presenters will demonstrate how breastfeeding data collection has evolved from paper-based surveys distributed at group classes, to retrospective data collection through the Healthy Beginnings Program, to custom forms integrated into encounter assistants using the EMR.
